One of the perks of being a young adult author is that I get invited to speak at schools and book festivals. My presentations are generally 40-45 minutes long and are geared toward upper elementary, middle, and high school students.

Because of my background as a classroom teacher, I know how to keep students engaged and enthused throughout my visit. Using PowerPoint slides and other visual aids, I talk about my books; where I got the idea for each one, and what it takes to get published. I also read excerpts from my novels and offer practical writing tips to help students create their own stories.
